Our History
St. Saviour’s School Ebute-Metta was founded by the St. Saviour’s Colonial Church School’s Trust. This was established by the St. Saviour’s Colonial Council at the inspiration of Canon R. R Wright who was chaplain of St. Saviour’s Colonial Church TBS Lagos. The church is now known as Our Saviour’s Church TBS Lagos.
Funds for the Trust were provided through Frank Samuel Esq of the United Africa Limited and by the commercial firms established in Nigeria.

The school opened its doors on 23rd April 1951 to children of staff of the Nigerian Railway Corporation with four classrooms. With a capacity for 100 students, only 30 pupils enrolled.
The initial objective of the school was to tutor children of expatriates who were expected to continue their education in the United Kingdom. The school operated a strictly British curriculum and majority of staff and students were European. Nigerians will later begin to enrol in the school and today, it has morphed into an international school, accepting pupils of different nationalities.
St. Saviour’s School Ebute-Metta accepted only pupils of primary school age until 1999 when it established a Nursery School that accommodated 45 pupils.
Today, both sections of the school (nursery and primary) have expanded to accommodate more pupils. All buildings in the school are purpose-built, and the nursery school can cater to 90 pupils while the primary school can cater to 450 pupils.
St. Saviour’s School Ebute-Metta turns 74 this year! That is 74 years of building and maintaining an educational legacy that is proud of its alumni who are setting the pace in their chosen professions all over the world. “Being the Best” has been our watchword and truly, we are the best!
